The Kenyan President says the terrorists who attacked at a Nairobi shopping mall have been "ashamed and defeated". Uhuru Kenyatta announced that five of the attackers have been killed during the attack at the upmarket Westgate shopping mall.
He also said 11 suspects have been arrested.
"We have ashamed and defeated our attackers - that part of our task is completed" Mr. Kenyatta said.
But Mr. Kenyatta said losses from the attack by Islamist gunmen were "immense".
He said 61 civilians and six members of the security forces died in the siege. The President also called three days of national mourning. It is also believed that close to 200 people are wounded as the entered its fourth day today.
Sporadic bursts of gunfire and an explosion marked the fourth day since militants stormed into the Westgate centre, spraying bullets and lobbing grenades.
Somalia's al Shabaab earlier claimed its militants were still holed up in the mall, saying there were "countless dead bodies".
The Kenyan Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed last night confirmed that al Shabaab fighters were responsible for the attack.
