Up to 600 jobs are being created in Ireland every week, according to the Minister for Finance.
Michael Noonan, who officially opened the European offices of Canadian software firm Optel Vision in the Raheen Business Park in Limerick, said he was confident the government would achieve its target of generating 100,000 jobs.
“During our period of office we have created just over 80,000 (jobs) now, so I think over the next year we will fulfil objective of 100,000 jobs,” Mr Noonan said.
The minister said the government was as committed as ever to the current corporate tax rate adding that, 200,000 people were currently employed in about a thousand multinational companies.
