Peace talks between South Sudan’s warring parties will not recommence next month despite pleas by the international community to President Salva Kiir and rebel leader Riek Machar.
The setback comes amid a cycle of extreme violence including mass rape of women and children, the forced recruitment of child soldiers, and impending famine.
