Newstalk has reached its highest ever listenership and market share as today’s JNLR results show it continues to be Ireland’s fastest growing station.

According to the latest JNLR results, released today, Newstalk now has 392,000 listeners daily and 684,000 weekly listeners.

Additional highlights from the latest JNLR results include:

  • Newstalk ‘Breakfast’, hosted by Ivan Yates and Chris Donoghue, has 165,000 listeners daily – an increase of 39,000 listeners year on year
  • After sixteen months, ‘The Pat Kenny Show’ hosted by Pat Kenny has 142,000 listeners daily
  • ‘The Right Hook’ presented by George Hook has 126,000 daily listeners, an increase of 13,000 book on book
  • ‘Moncrieff’ with Sean Moncrieff has 119,000 listeners daily – an increase of 7,000 year on year
  • ‘Lunchtime’ presented by Jonathan Healy has 78,000 listeners daily – an increase of 13,000 year on year
  • ‘Off The Ball’ presented by Ger Gilroy, Joe Molloy and team has 49,000 listeners daily – an increase of 6,000 year on year

Commenting on the latest JNLR figures, Gerard Whelan, Newstalk CEO, said:

“We are extremely pleased with today’s JNLR results as once again we’ve seen a strong performance across the station. We have more listeners nationwide than ever before, with 684,000 listening weekly across the country. We’ve retained our position as Ireland’s fastest growing national station and also grown our market share to 6.4%”

Mr Whelan continued, “Our primetime shows continue to be a huge success, in particular Breakfast with Chris and Ivan which just goes from strength to strength. Our weekend shows also performed extremely well, and have shown increases across the board. It’s a great start to the year, and we look forward to building on this momentum throughout 2015.”
