KILKENNY MURDER

A man is in Garda custody after a young woman was killed in a stabbing in Kilkenny city last night.

The 28-year-old victim was attacked in the shop where she worked in the Market Cross centre at about half past eight.

She was rushed to St Luke's Hospital - but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A 27-year-old man was arrested after a Garda search of the area - he's being questioned at Kilkenny Garda Station.

GUERIN REPORT

The government will today publish the report which forced Alan Shatter to resign as Minister for Justice.

The 300-page Guerin document will outline how the Garda Ombudsman, Department of Justice and Minister for Justice failed to investigate allegations of Garda misconduct.

The government's expected to set up a full independent Commission of Inquiry into how the claims were handled.

Charlie Bird says students shouldn't pay attention to comments from the founder of the Web Summit yesterday - where he said he preferred Trinity graduates when hiring.

Paddy Cosgrove yesterday told the Pat Kenny Show on Newstalk that a 2:1 from Trinity is "pretty much" worth a 1st class honours from the other universities.

Charlie Bird failed his Leaving Cert and never went to University - he's told breakfast the comments aren't helpful.
