The National Lottery is withholding payment of a multi-million Euro jackpot to someone claiming to be the winner.

The €8.2 million ticket was bought in Sligo Town on March 5th in the XL Shop and Stop on Stephen Street.

In a statement a spokesperson for the National Lottery told Newstalk.com they are "continuing to engage with the ticketholder".

"We do not comment on the specifics of the claims procedure to protect both the privacy of the claimant and the security of the National Lottery’s claims process. Any claimant has 90 days in which to claim their prize."

A further update will be provided by the company when the prize has been collected.
