Veteran US Senator John McCain has died at the age of 81.
The politician and former presidential candidate had been battling a stage-four brain tumour – and his family announced on Friday that he would no longer continue medical treatment.
The high profile Republican clashed with US President Donald Trump on a range of issues in his latter years.
He lost out to Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election - but his old rival says despite their differences, they shared "a fidelity to something higher."

It’s day two of the Pope’s trip to Ireland – with half a million people due to attend mass in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.
The Pontiff will fly to Knock Shrine in Mayo this morning – but the issue of clerical sex abuse is set to dominate the agenda once again.
Last night, he spent more than an hour and a half meeting eight survivors of clerical, religious and institutional abuse.
He told them that those involved in corruption and cover up in the church are ‘filth.’
The Pope apologised for what happened at mother and baby homes – and indicated that he would say more on the issue today.

Meanwhile, a major protest in support of victims of clerical abuse is being held to coincide with Pope Francis' Mass in Dublin's Phoenix Park.
Organisers of the Stand4Truth event expect thousands to take part – including performer like Hozier, Mary Black and Liam Ó Maonlaí.
The demonstrations get underway at 2:30pm at the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin.
The crowd will walk silently form the Garden to the last remaining Magdalene Laundry at Sean McDermott Street.

Three earthquakes, including one at magnitude 6, have struck western Iran.
State media is reporting at least two people have been killed and 241 injured.
Last November, a major quake struck the same region, killing more than 530.

Ukelele players from around the world will descend on Dun Laoghaire in Dublin today for the Ukelele Hooley.
The event, which is now in its 10th year, kicks off at midday at the People's Park.
It's the biggest gathering of ukelele players and fans in Europe.
Festival organiser Niall Carty said the event includes a ‘jungle jam’ which will see “hopefully a few thousand” people playing songs with a jungle theme.
