Maureen O'Hara is being remembered as an Irish Woman - who made the world her oyster.

The screen legend passed away yesterday, at the age of 95, surrounded by her family.

Best known for her roles in Miracle on 34th Street and The Quiet Man, tributes are being paid to her from across the globe.

Speaking from State business in Canada, Arts Minister Heather Humphreys says she will be greatly missed.

The community of Holywood in Co Down are in shock after the bodies of a newlywed couple from the area were found dead on a beach in South Africa on Friday.

28-year-old John Rodgers and his 26-year-old wife Lynette from Ballygowan drowned after getting into trouble swimming in rough seas at Plettenberg Bay.

The couple tied the knot in front of family and friends last Saturday and set off on their honeymoon on Monday.

A two-year-old boy is among four people killed after a woman drove into a crowd during a homecoming parade at Oklahoma State University.

Witnesses described how bodies were thrown dozens of feet into the air when the Hyundai Elantra slammed into the crowd in Stillwater, near Oklahoma City.

The vehicle crashed through barricades and struck an unmanned police motorcycle before ploughing into spectators.

There has been no budget bounce for the Government, according to the latest opinion poll.

The Red C survey for the Sunday Business Post shows support for Fine Gael up to 30%, but Labour now stands at 7%.

Fianna Fáil goes up two points to 20%, while Sinn Féin remains unchanged on 16.

Concerns are being raised about the Government's plans to build modular homes for the homeless.

The Environment Minister hopes to have 22 of the units in place before Christmas in Dublin.

In total, 500 of the prefabricated houses are being ordered for the capital.
