The Taoiseach has said he wants to 'open a new chapter' between the Irish state and the Catholic Church.

Leo Varadkar has pledged to push Pope Francis for ‘full disclosure’ on clerical abuse when he meets him in Dublin tomorrow.

Noting that Ireland recently introduced mandatory reporting of sexual abuse, Mr Varadkar said the Church should follow suit across the world.

Pope Francis has a packed schedule for his two-day visit to Ireland – including a visit to Knock Shrine, Dublin City Centre, the Pro Cathedral and Phoenix Park.

The Congress of the World Meeting of Families is opening today with a discussion on 'safeguarding children.'

But it's been criticised by survivors of clerical abuse, who are questioning why the gathering's only spending one hour on the topic.

Maeve Lewis is from survivors' group One in Four.

A new global study shows females here are now seventh in the world for the amount of alcohol they consume on a daily basis.

The country’s Treasurer Scott Morrison will replace Malcolm Turnbull after winning a three-way battle for the leadership of the Liberal party.

John Lennon's killer has been denied parole for a 10th time.

Mark David Chapman is serving 20 years to life in New York for shooting the former Beatle outside his apartment in 1980.

The Parole Board said releasing the 63 year-old would mitigate the seriousness of his crime, and endanger public safety.
