The sister of murdered British MP Jo Cox has said she does not want her name to be used for political point scoring.

Kim Leadbeater was speaking after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson claimed the best way to honour Ms Cox was to "get Brexit done".

The 41-year-old politician was killed by a far-right terrorist in June 2016, during the EU referendum campaign.

There was a 62% increase in the amount the State paid to victims of violent crime last year.

Some €2.5m was given to one person in compensation for their injury.

People who suffer a personal injury as a result of a crime of violence can apply to the State for compensation.

Two people have died in separate road traffic collisions in Cork and Cavan.

A pedestrian, aged in his 50s, was fatally injured when he was struck by a bus in Virginia.

Labour Party leader Brendan Howlin is calling on the justice minister to intervene in the strike affecting speed-camera vans.

He says there should be an intervention to prevent public safety being put on the line.

GoSafe speed camera operators claim they are confined to their vans for up to 11 hours at a time without proper conditions.
