The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting later after North Korea fired a ballistic missile from its capital Pyongyang.

South Korea's military says the missile travelled east and flew over Japan's northern island of Hokkaido before landing in the Pacific Ocean.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says his country will 'never tolerate' Kim Jong-un's dangerous actions.

Amnesty International says it has evidence of a "scorched-earth campaign" targeting Rohingya villages in Myanmar.

The human rights charity says more than 80 sites have been set ablaze since late August.

More than 370,000 Rohingya Muslims have been forced to flee Myanmar to neighbouring Bangladesh.

Irish secondary schools could be facing industrial action.

Almost nine out of ten members of the Teachers' Union of Ireland (TUI) have rejected the new public service pay agreement.

They've also voted by 81% for industrial action, up to and including strike action.

Mortgage holders are being told there's a price war on the way that could dramatically cut their costs.

AIB is dropping its variable rates by 0.25%.

That could amount to a €500 reduction in annual payments, according to the Irish Independent.

Many other lenders are expected to follow suit.

It's feared a British man in Sri Lanka has been killed by a crocodile after reportedly going into a lagoon to wash his hands.

The owner of a surf camp in the area says police were called immediately and search teams are working to find him.

Britain's Foreign Office has confirmed they're helping the man's family ,who reported him missing.
