Sinn Féin and Fianna Fáil are neck and neck to win the general election, according to the latest opinion poll.

It has Mary Lou McDonald's party on 24% - tied with Fianna Fáil and three ahead of Fine Gael.

The Red C poll for the Business Post has Sinn Féin up 5%, and the party has seen its support jump 13% in Red C polls since November.

A man in the Philippines has become the first person to die from the coronavirus outside of China.

He had arrived in the country from the affected city of Wuhan 12 days ago.

There have been more than 300 fatalities in China so far.

LGBT activists say there has been an alarming spike in homophobic attacks reported to them.

It follows the beating and stabbing of a man who was waiting for a train in Newbridge, Co Kildare on Friday evening which left him in hospital.

The incident is being investigated as a suspected hate crime.

Six arrests have been made after a garda was injured during a protest in Dublin city centre.

Gardaí arrested the men during the demonstration on Kildare Street yesterday.

A garda received injuries to his hand during the incident.

Speed limits on sections of the N7 and M7 are due to expire at midnight tonight.

Roadworks had restricted motorists to speeds of 80 kilometres and 100 kilometres an hour in places.

The curbs have been in place since January 2018.
