Cabinet will consider new public health advice on the reopening of barbers and hairdressers today.

They're not due to open until July 20th, but that could be brought forward to June 29th as the lifting of lockdown measures is accelerated.

The National Public Health Emergency Team has also been working on new guidance in relation to weddings and cinemas.

Four more coronavirus-related deaths were announced in Ireland last night alongside 16 new confirmed cases.

A man in his 40s remains in custody in County Roscommon after the murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan.

The 49-year-old was shot dead with his own gun in Castlerea Co. Roscommon late on Wednesday night.

Hundreds of people gathered in the pouring rain to attend a vigil for him in the town last night.

A separate memorial event was also held Detective Horkan’s colleagues.

The Australian Government says it is battling a “sophisticated” cyber-attack led by an unnamed foreign government.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the attacks have targeted all levels of government - as well as political organisations, essential service providers and operators of other critical infrastructure.

He died not name the country he believes is behind it – but noted that there is “not a large number” of countries that would be capable of it.

He said there is no evidence that people’s personal information is affected on a “large scale.”

The health watchdog has had 22 data breaches since the beginning of last year.

Three were reported to the Data Protection Commissioner - with one deemed to be a 'high risk'.

According to documents released to Newstalk under the Freedom of Information Act, HIQA has had 32 suspected data breaches since January 2019.

22 were deemed to be actual breaches and ten were described as 'near misses'.

The bodies of a man and his teenage son have been recovered from Lough Keel in County Donegal.

They were holidaying in the area and got into difficulty on the water yesterday afternoon.

Another son who was with them at the time was rescued and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.

Post-mortem examinations are expected to take place today.
