Three former Anglo Irish Bank executives will be sentenced later after being found guilty of trying to defraud Revenue.

Former COO Tiarnan O'Mahoney, former Company Secretary Bernard Daly and former Assistant Manager Aoife Maguire were convicted on all charges of conspiring to hide accounts connected to former Chairman Sean FitzPatrick.

They were each denied bail until this afternoon's sentencing.

It is hoped debris - which could be from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 - will arrive in France by the end of the week.

Experts in Toulouse will try to verify the object as quickly as possible.

The jet vanished last March, with all 239 people on board presumed dead.

There have also been reports a badly damaged suitcase was found near the debris on the island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean.

A teenager is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash in Mayo.

The 18-year-old girl was walking on the Castlebar to Claremorris Road -the N60 - at about 5 o'clock yesterday evening when she was struck by a car.

The 83-year-old driver and a young male passenger were taken to hospital as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.

Almost 40,000 older people can register for free doctor visits from today.

The next stage of the Government's free GP scheme starts next Wednesday.

The new service will apply to anyone aged 70 and over who is ordinarily resident in the State. The scheme will cost €18 million a year.

Negotiators from the European Union and the International Monetary Fund will begin formal talks today - over Greece's next international bailout.

It is hoped the deal - worth €85 billion - will keep the country's economy afloat once it's signed off.

The talks need to be completed by August the 20th though - when another huge debt repayment to the European Central Bank's due.
