European leaders will gather in Brussels later to consider whether to delay Brexit.

British Prime Minister Theresa May has asked for an extension until June 30th to get a deal done.

The EU has indicated it would agree to the extension, but only if she can win parliament's backing for the withdrawal deal next week.

New Zealand is reforming its gun laws following a terror attack that killed 50 people.

The man arrested following the atrocity had bought his weapons legally.

The new laws are expected to be in place by early April.

A man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, by detectives investigating the deaths of three teenagers in Co Tyrone on Sunday, has been released on police bail.

The 52-year-old will return for questioning at a further date.

Police say the major investigation into the deaths of Connor Currie, Lauren Bullock and Morgan Barnard at the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown on St Patrick's Day is continuing.

Last year was one of the worst on record for forest fires with 90 reported on Coillte property alone.

The national state forestry organisation is holding a training day today, in conjunction with the National Fire Service, to highlight the dangers of forest fires.

The training day also aims to highlight how people can avoid causing them.

Ireland will have the highest university fees in the EU after Brexit.

That is according to the Union of Students in Ireland, who are holding a protest today at Dublin's Trinity College.

Third-level students and staff will call on the Government to respond to, what they say is, a growing crisis in higher education funding.
