An international manhunt is underway to find a suspect who apparently fled the scene of one of yesterday's attacks in Brussels.

34 people were killed in three bomb blasts - two at the Zaventem airport and another at a city centre metro station.

The man detectives are chasing was caught on CCTV with the two suicide bombers at the airport, who Belgian media are naming as brother who were known to police.

Hours after the explosions - investigators found a nail bomb and an Islamic State flag during a raid in Brussels.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility.

The attacks came in the wake of Paris bombing suspect Saleh Abdehsalem in Brussels last Friday.

The city remains under a terror threat of level four.

Last night Belgium's King Philippe addressed the nation - saying the 22nd of March will no longer be seen as an ordinary day.

His nation begins three days of national mourning today.

A minute's silence will also be held.

Security has been stepped up at many airports and major stations across many European cities.

Brussels airport remains closed today, but schools and the Metro will reopen.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is advising Irish citizens planning on visiting Brussels to delay non-essential travel until the situation has stabilised.

999 operators in Navan are to go on strike again in a row over pay and conditions.

Workers won't answer emergency calls for a 12-hour period on Thursday the 7th of April.

However other 999 call centres in Dublin and Ballyshannon are expected to operate as normal.
