France has declared a state of emergency after at least 120 people were killed in six coordinated attacks across Paris.

At least 38 people died in shootings and bombings at bars, restaurants and a stadium in the capital - before dozens of other people were killed at the Bataclan concert hall.

Eight attackers have been killed, the Paris prosecutor said. Seven of them died in suicide blasts.

In a live televised address as the attacks unfolded, French President Francois Hollande declared a state of emergency.

There has been widespread condemnation following last nights attacks in France.

The President and Taoiseach are among other world leaders to expressed their shock at the events.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign of Affairs says the Embassy in Paris and the Department in Dublin are actively monitoring the situation in Paris.

Irish citizens in Paris are being advised to exercise caution.

In an updated travel notice, the Department of Foreign Affairs is urging Irish people in France to follow the instructions of authorities there.

It is also asking people to make contact with their families to let them know they are safe.

Delays are expected at French airports today - anyone due to travel is advised to check with your operator before travelling to the Airport.

In other news, two men have been hospitalised following a stabbing on Dublin's Fade Street.

The incident occurred just after 11 o'clock last night.

Gardaí in Donegal are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road collision which claimed the lives of two people yesterday.

A man and a woman - in their 30s - died following the two car collision, which happened on the N13 Letterkenny-to-Derry Road at Moyle near Newtowncunningham, shortly before 2.30pm.

A second man - who suffered serious injuries in the incident - is receiving treatment in hospital in Derry.
