The tech industry is driving several major jobs announcements today.

Facebook, Fortuity, Hortonworks and Intuity are all hiring in counties Cork, Galway and Meath.

In Meath, social media giant Facebook says 150 jobs will be created when their new data centre in Clonee is completed. The social network will also employ some 2,000 people during construction.

The plant will be up at running by 2018 at the latest.

Galway firms merge

In Galway, 100 jobs are being created with the merger of two existing Irish firms, to form a new brand called Intuity.

Ice cube and Tec support will join, recruiting new staff to work in cloud computing technology over the next three years.

Ice cube has been providing software solutions, IT consultancy and support to Credit Union, marts and quarries for over 40 years.

Meanwhile, Tec support is an IT support and maintenance business and has been operating for almost a decade.

Cork announcements

California company Hortonworks is to offer 50 jobs in cork.

The new staff will work in global technical support, and other professions.

Hortonworks is working in Open Data Platforms.

Bluemetrix, a Cork-based big data specialist delivering web analytics and data consultancy, recently became the first Hortonworks Silver Certified Partner in Ireland.

While Cork-based Fortuity is hiring an extra ten staff as it expands its cloud computing capabilities.
