A group of migrants looking to sneak aboard a lorry at Calais and make their way to the UK were given a surprise when they boarded a lorry already carrying a polar bear.
Sky News reports that the three people broke the locks on the doors of the container outside the French port and entered, where they found the bear, called Nissan, who was in his cage.
Nissan was heading to Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster, from Russia.
Nisan had made his way from Moscow Zoo to Frankfurt on a flight but was to travel from the German city to the UK via road.
After 10 minutes in the lorry with Nissan, French police arrived and removed the migrants.
Nisan is now safely in Yorkshire Wildlife Park, living with two other bears - 15-year-old Victor and two-year-old Pixel.
A spokesman said: "He's absolutely fine. He appears to be settling in well with Victor and Pixel."
