Members of the US based Detroit Water Brigade have arrived in Dublin to show their solidarity, ahead of a major rally in Dublin later this week.

The event is being organised by the Right 2Water campaign group. It will take place outside the Dail on Wednesday.

The US campaign group are known for bringing emergency relief to families facing water shut offs in the US.

The group have been invited to Ireland by Right2Water campaigners. Brendan Ogle is Right2Water's spokesman.

The Sunday Independent reports that up to 70,000 people are believed to be gearing up to take part in the mass protest in Dublin this Wednesday.

It was estimated that more than 100,000 protesters took to streets around the country during the last mass protest at the start of November.
