What's being dubbed a mega-earth has been discovered in a distant star system.

Scientists say the rocky planet - known as Kepler 10c - is up to 17 times bigger and more than twice as old as the Earth.

The star system where it is located is estimated to be 11 billion years old.

The Earth, by comparison, is only around 4 and a half billion years old.
