A Meath woman has picked up a Lotto jackpot cheque for €6,496,219. The winner, who does not want to be identified, won the prize on a €12 ticket that was bought in Mimnagh's shop in Slane.
Some of her ticket lines were made up of birthdays - but it was the Quick Pick line that hit the jackpot.
The winner says she plans to travel with her winnings.
"I was at home on the Thursday morning when the telephone rang and it was my daughter. She said that the winning Lotto ticket for the big jackpot was sold in Slane. She then read out the numbers to me on the telephone and I had the ticket in my hand, so I realised straight away that I was the winner. I was in total shock, total denial, said nothing, and continued the conversation as normal", she said.
"For the rest of the day, I continued to work on as if nothing had happened. There are certain routines everyday and they have to be carried out, part and parcel of life, really".
"But when the evening came, I decided I should tell the family. They were totally delighted with the good news", said the lucky lady over a glass of champagne in National Lottery offices.
"I haven't any particular plans for the win. I'll be helping out the family anyway, and I have never been to America - so I would like to travel, when I've gotten used to the good news".
