The Chairman of the Dáil Public Accounts Committee (PAC) says his credibility has not been damaged by newspaper reports about his actions as a Junior Minister.
John McGuinness is answering questions of his own committee - insisting all he did was what was normal at the time.
It follows revelations about him pushing for his wife to travel on foreign trips, his son's overtime claims and the €250,000 worth of costs for renovating his office.
He says he did not personally go out to do something wrong or deliberately benefit from his position as a Junior Minister.
And he says it is not an issue that would cause him to resign as chairman of the taxpayers watchdog.
