A Kerry mayor has called on boy racers to give lifts to people in isolated areas.
Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Paddy Courtney says instead of keeping people awake at night with their noisy exhausts and loud car stereos, so-called boy racers should be helping the community by bringing people in remote areas to the pub or bingo at night and then drive them home.
He says this would allow them to indulge their enthusiasm for driving while at the same time providing valuable community service.
Mayor Courtney also says parents have a duty to find out if their young adult children are driving responsibly.
