Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke is urging people to take extra care when swimming in open water.

Speaking after the death of 13 year old Ricky Osagi Councillor Burke said that people of all ages need to be prepared and use the right safety equipment when taking to the water.

Ricky Osagi went to the aid of a girl who got into difficulty while swimming in a lake in Blanchardstown on Friday evening and died in Temple Street Children's Hospital on Saturday morning.
