Marie Farrell has told Ian Bailey's High Court action she was with a deceased factory worker from Longford on the morning of Sophie Toscan du Plantier's murder.

The shopkeeper said she has not disclosed this information to anyone since it happened 18 years ago.

She is being cross examined in the former journalist's wrongful arrest action against the State and Garda Commissioner.

Marie Farrell 'stormed' out of court rather than identify the man she was with in a car on the morning of Sophie Toscan du Plantier's murder.

Today marks the Schull shopkeeper's seventh day giving evidence in the former journalist's wrongful arrest case against the State and Garda Commissioner.

Under cross examination she was asked to reveal who she was with when she saw a man on Kealfadda Bridge at 3am on the morning of Sophie Toscan du Plantier's murder, 18 years ago.

Mr Justice John Hedigan reminded the witness of her oath to tell the truth.

Marie Farrell's response was 'I'm going, I'm having nothing more to do with it,' and she walked from the court room.

However, three hours later she was back in the witness box and she named him as John Reilly – a Longford factory worker she had known growing up who is now deceased.

It is her evidence this was who she was with when she saw a man on the road near the French film producer's home at 3am

She claims gardai pressurised her to falsely claim it was Ian Bailey.

When asked why there was so much secrecy about who she was with on the morning, Marie Farrell said she wanted a quiet life at home

Mr Bailey is suing the State and Garda Commissioner for damages. He alleges members of An Garda Siochana conspired to concoct evidence against him and that he was wrongfully arrested on suspicion of murdering Sophie Toscan du Plantier at her holiday home in Schull, Co Cork on 23 December 1996.

Yesterday, Mrs Farrell claimed a detective investigating the killing in West Cork stripped naked and asked her for sex.

She also told the court detectives had threatened that she would be charged with wasting garda time if she changed her story.
