If you thought bringing your jam jars to the bottle bank makes you a good recycler, think again! This guy is leagues ahead of you.
The Daily Mail reports that Bruce Campbell, a 64 year-old retired electrical engineer, has made it his mission to refit scrapped airliners. He currently lives in a refurbished Boeing 727 near Potland, Oregon.
Though it features a shower, bed and microwave, it isn't quite luxury living - he survives mostly on canned foods and cereal. Nonetheless, Campbell has made it his home and now lives there for six months of the year.
He originally bought the plane and the plot on which it sits in his twenties, living in a mouse-infested mobile home while he worked on it.
Since then he has spent thousand of dollars and countless hours bringing the old wreck up to scratch. But now he plans to move on to bigger things - namely a Boeing 747 home in Japan, where he spends the rest of his time.
It might not be the most extravagent lifestyle, but for Cambpell it's all about enjoying yourself.
Speaking to the Mail, he said: 'I think most people are nerds in their hearts in some measure. The point is to have fun.'
