An Ohio man has survived a series of point-blank gunshot wounds - after the bullets bounced off a bible he kept in his breast pocket.

The busdriver was shot three times in an attack on Monday, including twice in the chest.

However the bullets failed to penetrate his body because they lodged in a copy of the New Testament he kept in his jacket.

The condition of the book is unknown.
