A man in his twenties has died after he was shot a number of times in a gun attack in South Dublin.

The fatal shooting happened on Fortunestown Lane in Tallaght at around at around 9.20 pm last night. 

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the shooting victim was declared dead at the scene.

Gardaí have sealed off the scene for a forensic examination.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for anybody who was in the area between 9pm and 9.30pm to contact them at Tallaght Garda Station.
