A 20-year-old woman has been arrested after a man was shot dead in Dublin's north inner city last night.

The body has been removed from the scene to the city morgue. A postmortem is due to get underway to establish the exact cause of death, but it is believed the victim was shot in the head.

The attack happened at around ten to midnight outside the Killarney Court apartments, just off Portland Row. 

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

A 20 year-old woman has been arrested in relation to the shooting and she is being detained at Store Street Garda Station, under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
