A man shot dead at a cash-for-clothes facility in Rathcoole in Dublin was a father of one from Lithuania.

Gardai are now appealing for information on a silver coloured 05-TN registered Audi A3 hatchback which may have been used by the gunman. It is believed the victim was known to Gardaí.

At around 9:30am the foreign worker aged in his mid-40s was seriously injured when he was shot in the body near a clothing recycling facility in the Greenougue Industrial Estate. He was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardai were responding to a 999 call from the premises when they found the man who had suffered gun shot wounds.

The area has been sealed off for a technical and forensic examination. A liaison officer has now been appointed to the victim's family and a post-mortem examination will be carried on the his body by the Deputy State Pathologist this evening.
