A 39-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with the sexual assault and false imprisonment of two women on separate streets in Dublin City four years ago.

Philip Murphy, of no fixed abode in the capital, is also accused of threatening to kill the two women.

The court heard he was arrested at Casement Aerodrome at 7:05am yesterday morning on foot of six outstanding arrest warrants.

He was taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was yesterday evening charged with sexual assault, false imprisonment and threatening to kill two women on separate streets in Dublin 1 on February 25th 2016.

He appeared before Dublin District Court this morning wearing a striped jumper and blue jeans, and remained silent throughout the hearing.

Detective Garda Emma Ryan told the court Mr Murphy made no reply when charged.

He was remanded in custody by judge Colin Daly to appear before Cloverhill District Court on June 16th.
