Gardaí in Portlaoise investigating the murder of Aoife Phelan are continuing to question a 24-year-old man.
The man was detained just hours after the discovery of the body of a woman yesterday.
It was made close to where Aoife was last seen almost 2 weeks ago.
He is being questioned at Portlaoise Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be detained for up to 24 hours.
House search
The body was found at the rear of a house on the Timahoe Road outside Portlaoise which Gardai had previously been examining as part of the investigation into the disappearance of the childminder.
The focus of the searach had moved to part of the River Barrow near Monasterevin in Co. Kildare.
30-year-old Aoife has been missing since the evening of Thursday October 25th when she was last seen leaving a friend’s house in Collier’s View.
