A young Tallaght man has pleaded not guilty to murdering a teenager in a drive by shooting almost two years ago.

Melanie McCarthy-McNamara (16) was gunned down as she sat in a parked jeep at Brookview Way in Tallaght on February 8th in 2012.

Daniel McDonnell (19) of Brookview Lawns in Tallaght pleaded not guilty at Central Criminal Court this morning.

A jury of six men and six women was then sworn in by Mr. Justice Paul Carney.

The trial, which is expected to last at least a week, starts tomorrow.
