A senior member of the Kinahan cartel has been jailed for eight years for his role in a plan to murder a man as part of the Hutch-Kinahan gangland feud.

Liam Brannigan from Bride Street in Dublin 8 was found guilty of conspiring with others to murder Gary Hanley at his home in Dublin in 2017.

The judge referred to ten phone calls he had with the hit team on the day of what was described as a “well-planned gangland-style execution.”

The judge also complimented Gardaí for scuppering their plan and afterwards Superintendent David Gallagher paid tribute to his colleagues.

“I want to pay tribute to the investigation team who showed great resilience in achieving these successes,” he said.

“This outcome impacts positively on the security and safety of our communities

“Organised crime groups terrorising our communities will not be accepted and An Garda Síochána continues to prioritise those who most engage in violence and threats to life.”
