A man found dead in Sligo yesterday evening suffered a very violent death.
The man has been named locally as Aidan Moffitt, a peace commissioner and property advisor who was originally from County Roscommon.

He was found dead in “unexplained circumstances” at his home in the Cartron area of Sligo Town at around 8:30pm yesterday evening.
Gardaí have said the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation; however, there are clear signs he was the victim of a gruesome attack.
It is understood he suffered severe injuries to his neck.
The scene has been sealed off while Gardaí continue a forensic examination this morning.
