A Chicago man attempted an escape from police that could have been pulled from the ages of a bad Hollywood script.

Being chased by police last Sunday, the real estate agent ran into the Chicago Marathon route and joined the competitors for a portion of the race.

Bryan Duffy, 29, entered the race close to the straight line after police egan chasing him. He ran with the runners for a period of time before officers were able to apprehend him.

A Chicago real estate agent being chased by police on Sunday dashed onto the Chicago Marathon route and ran a portion of the famed race before being tackled to the ground by police, authorities said. Police had begun chasing Duffy when they found him digging through flower pots along the marathon route.

When he was apprehended, Duffy was found to have an Altoids box with 10 capsules of MDMA. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and reckless conduct for putting marathon runners in danger.
