A man has died following an assault in Navan, Co Meath yesterday.

Christopher Nevin (27) was seriously injured in an altercation with a number of other males.

The incident happened at around 2.15pm yesterday at Tailtean Road in Winetown.

The other men involved got into a silver car, which drove off in the direction of the town centre.

Mr Nevin was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he has since died.

A post mortem will take place tomorrow.

Gardaí in Navan are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who was on the Tailtean Road or in the vicinity of Winetown between 1.50pm and 2.30pm yesterday to contact them on 046-907-9930, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
