A 27-year-old man is due in court this afternoon, charged in connection with a house fire and assault in Co Offaly in September.

A 24-year-old suffered extensive burn injuries following the fire at Cloncur, Rhode on the 7th of September last - he was also found to have suffered a number of stab wounds.

Earlier, a 17-year-old who had been arrested in connection with the incident, was released without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP.

Gardaí had issued an appeal for information.
