A man in his 70s has died in a motorbike crash in County Clare.

Gardaí said the man was killed in a collision involving a car on the N67 at Ballyvaughan at around 10:30am on Thursday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and no other injuries were reported.

A man in his 40s has been arrested as part of the investigation and has since been charged. He is due before Ennis District Court at 10:30am.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are particularly interested in talking to road users who were in the area between 10am and 10:45am and may have camera footage.

A forensic examination of the scene has been carried out.
