A woman aged 82 is recovering in hospital this evening after a house fire in Co Westmeath.

The 55-year-old man was found dead after a blaze broke out in a house at Jordanstown early this morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene while the elderly woman was taken to hospital.

A technical examination is being carried out at the scene, but initial investigations suggest the fire was started accidentally.
