Two people have died in separate road crashes in Counties Dublin and Kerry.

A woman in her seventies was struck by a van on the Old Bawn Road in Tallaght this afternoon.

She was taken to Tallaght Hospital - before being transferred to Beaumont where she was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile in Kerry, a man in his seventies was killed when the car he was driving collided with a van between Scartaglen and Ballydesmond.

Three men - who were in the van - suffered minor injuries. The road has since re-opened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
