A man aged in his early 20s has been killed in a work site accident in Cork.

The incident happened near Gasworks Lane of Angelsea Street shortly before 1pm

Emergency services were quickly on the scene.

The site has since been closed off and officers from the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are expected there shortly.

Second accident this week

It is the second workplace-related accident in this week after a man in his 50s died on a farm in Co. Clare on Wednesday.

The accident happened near Cooraclare in West Clare when the man fell off the roof of a shed he was carrying out repairs to.

Family members raised the alarm and emergency services rushed to the scene but they were unable to resuscitate the injured man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
