A man in 70s has been killed in a road accident in Co. Cork.
The head on collision between two cars happened on the N25 Cork to Midleton dual carriageway. It took place shortly after 11.30am this morning.
It is understood one of the cars was travelling in the wrong direction at the time.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male driver of the second car was taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.
Gardai say both were the sole occupants of the cars.
The N25 east-bound is currently closed between the Little Island and Cobh Junctions. East bound traffic is asked to use the old road to Glounthaune.
