Gardaí are investigating after a man was killed in a road traffic collision in Cork this morning. It happened on the N72 Mallow to Killarney Road at Dromagh at around 10am.
The man, aged in his late 50s, was fatally injured when the vehicle he was driving hit a tree. He was the only person in the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at scene and taken to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem is due to take place tomorrow.
The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was on the N72 at Dromagh between 9:45am and 10:30am to contact them at Kanturk garda station on 029-20680, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
