A man in his 40s has been killed after being struck by a vehicle in Co Galway.

The incident happened at Kilkieran at around 11 o'clock this morning.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic examination.

Any witnesses to the incident are being asked to come forward.
