A man has died after a serious assault at a cemetery in County Kerry this morning.

It is believed a funeral was ongoing when the man was attacked in New Rath Cemetery in Tralee this morning.

The man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His remains have been removed to University Hospital Kerry.

The scene is currently preserved pending a full technical examination.

The Garda investigation is ongoing.
