A man has died after he was struck by truck outside Letterkenny in County Donegal this morning.

Gardaí have said it happened at Magheranan shortly before 6am this morning.

The man in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary in University Hospital Letterkenny where a postmortem is due to take place.

The lorry driver was uninjured.

The road remains closed this morning as Gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the scene.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to road users who were in the area between 5am and 6am this morning and may have dash cam footage.
