A man is in critical condition following a serious assault in Co Meath.
It happened at around 3.00am on Saturday morning at Watergate Street in Navan.
The 21-year-old received serious injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
He has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he is in a critical condition.
The scene has been preserved and a Garda Technical examination has taken place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
They are asking anyone who was in Watergate Street area between 2.45am and 3.30am who may have witnessed the assault to contact them.
They are also asking any motorists who may have passed through Watergate Street around those times and have dashcam footage to contact Navan Garda station on 046-9036-100, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800-666-111 or any Garda station.
