A man in his 20s is in a critical condition after an early morning stabbing in Waterford city. It happened at St. John's Lane around 7am.

Gardai have made an arrest in relation to the incident.

Another man aged in his mid to late 20s has been detained.

The victim is being treated at Waterford Regional Hospital.
